About Us

The Saratoga Museum is housed in the Saratoga-Encampment (S&E) Railroad Depot. Build circa 1915, the Depot was moved in 1979 when the Union Pacific ended passenger operations on the S&E line. The Museum opened in 1980 and provides an opportunity to explore the Platte Valley's history. From the Hobo Hot Springs, the original historic Hotel Wolf bar, Wiant family log cabin, UP Railroad Caboose, and historic Sheep Wagon; and we also feature one of Wyoming's largest and best gem and mineral displays; including a new exhibit of Wyoming jade with dozens of specimens.
