A Spring Thing: From Guns to Roses
This event is designed to promote spring and summer opportunities for recreation and enjoyment in Wyoming's Upper North Platte River Valley. Areas of focus include gardening, foraging, outdoor activities and exploration of the area's natural and cultural attractions.
Kate Sherrod, committee member from VSO, said the organizers are now seeking exhibitors and workshop presenters for what they envision as a combination home and garden and outdoor show they hope will turn into an annual event.
Area businesses and organizations are invited to participate with booths showcasing their products and services relating to the theme of the event. The fee for booths in which products are for sale is $20.00, to be used to defray costs of promoting the event. The fee will be waived if the exhibitor has a workshop or presentation to add to the information track. Programs should run approximately 30 minutes to allow for audience participation and/or questions.
“We already have several exciting programs and exhibits lined up but there's still room in the schedule for more,” she said. Workshops already set include bird watching and creating a wildlife friendly yard, high altitude landscaping, a children's program on starting and nourishing seedlings, a short program highlighting the Carbon County Library System's summer programs, including the Saratoga Friends of the Library's free seed library and summer night time stargazing opportunities.
Exhibits and booths will be in the great hall, workshops in meeting rooms and, weather permitting, there will also be activities and displays in the parking lot.
“At this time, the committee is still seeking clubs or organizations to serve as a food vendors,” Sherrod said.
To sign up to have a display or booth or to volunteer to lead a workshop, contact Joe Elder at the community center, 307-326-7822.
The event is another of VSO's public service projects, and admission will be free of charge to the general public.
