Platte River Independence Day 5k & Fun Run

Lace up your running shoes and celebrate America’s 250th birthday in patriotic style at the Platte River Independence Day 5K & Fun Run on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Saratoga, Wyoming.

Hosted annually as part of Saratoga’s Fourth of July festivities, the event welcomes runners of all ages for a fun-filled morning of community, fitness, and celebration. Registration opens at 6:00 a.m. at the Saratoga Fire House, with the 5K race beginning at 7:00 a.m. The .5-mile Fun Run for kids will begin shortly after the start of the 5K.

The race course will begin and end at the Saratoga Fire House and will feature a timed 5K event, prizes, and patriotic energy throughout the morning.

Registration fees are $35 for adults and $15 for kids. Same-day registration will also be available beginning at 6:00 a.m. at the Fire House for an additional $10 fee.

This year’s event celebrates “America Turns 250,” honoring the nation’s sesquicentennial with a spirited community tradition that continues to bring locals and visitors together every Independence Day.

“Whether you’re racing for a personal best, jogging with friends, or showing off your red, white, and blue spirit, the Platte River Independence Day 5K is the perfect way to kick off the Fourth of July,” said Director of Operations Gabrielle Johnson. “We’re excited to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a morning full of fun, fitness, and hometown pride.”

A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Saratoga/Encampment High School Cross Country Team, who will be volunteering to run the event.
